Doraku Sushi
Doraku Sushi, which translates to "the Road of Happiness", is an exciting Izakaya-style restaurant known for serving traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern flair. Whether dining for lunch, dinner, or Sunday Brunch, guests will enjoy the freshest Sushi, perfectly grilled entrees, craft cocktails, and lively atmosphere. Created by third-generation restaurateur Kevin Aoki, the eldest son of Hiroaki "Rocky" Aoki of Benihana fame, his attention to details turns locals and visitors into loyal patrons. Irasshaimase!
Doraku Sushi is excited to bring the bold and modern Izakaya-style restaurant to the Leeward side of O'ahu. The fun and lively atmosphere will be the gathering place for friends and families. The 5,000 square foot space is complete with a spacious sushi bar, communal table, indoor pergolas, a stage for live music, and an outside dining area (with cigars after 8:00 p.m.). The restaurant’s theme resembles the traditional alleyways in Shibuya and Shinjuku with stone buddha statues, floating lanterns, neon signs, and Sake barrels.
Features that are unique to Doraku Kapolei include custom-made Teak-wood lounge chairs designed by Kevin himself, a bar created from recycled copper, and blow-torched plywood walls aka Shou Sugi Ban (charred wood planks), which replicate the famous “Sumiya” building in Kyoto, Japan. Guests can expect a wide range of sushi, grilled items, and vegan/vegetarian options, as well as signature dishes from Doraku's greatest hits list. This includes the Garlic Hamachi, Spicy Ahi Tuna, and other Deluxe Maki Rolls, Wagyu Beef Steak Fried Rice served tableside, and classic cocktails with new drinks invented specifically for the Kapolei location.

Doraku Kapolei Featured in Honolulu Magazine
Kevin Aoki’s third O‘ahu venue for his izakaya and sushi chain opened in December at Kapolei Marketplace. This one, 5,000 square feet in the old Ho Ho Chinese restaurant space, is replete with touches like logo sake barrels and a sea of hanging lanterns emblazoned with the kanji for Aoki. The full menu of fusion and traditional izakaya dishes is there, including the signature garlic hamachi roll. Unique to this Doraku location: a cigar bar on the lanai.
